Helmut
Halfmann and Tony
Caulfield are currently working on a 15 minutes long flash
animated Arthur Rimbaud biography.
Over half of it is completed by now and we’re happy to tell
you that the finished version will be a truly unique short film
about this breathtakingly fast rollercoaster ride that was Arthur’s
life!
Packed with eye candy, stunning graphics and animation, „unseen
photos“ of Arthur and co., hilariously funny and heartbreakingly
tragic scenes, the movie will capture all the drama, distress,
triumph, Absinthe flair, adventure and poetic genius we associate
with Arthur Rimbaud.
Moreover, a version 2.0 of art-rimbaud.de is in development.
It will include the mentioned bio movie and a lot of other new
entertaining features!
For all those of you who’ve already explored every corner of
the current site – please be patient for the new one to be launched…
as you know: Paris wasn’t built in one day. And neither was
the Eiffel Tower.
Actually, the Eiffel Tower was built from 1887 to 1889. During
that time Arthur had just ended his brief „career“ as a gun
dealer in Abyssinia and opened a hardware store in Harer,…
while far away in Paris people were reading Rimbaud’s poems
in Vogue, his book Illuminations and a chapter
about him in Paul Verlaine’s book The Accursed Poets.
And while we’re at work here to bring you new features, you
might enjoy watching this Eiffel Tower live cam brought to you
by the Art Rimbaud Project and abcparislive.com.

Art Rimbaud Project Info
In merely 37 years of a life that encompassed a spectrum from exuberantly
exhilarating to crushingly tragic, Jean-Nicholas-Arthur Rimbaud
(20.10.1854 – 10.11.1891) created a body of poetry and autobiographical
texts that were unique and groundbreaking in their time… and still
are today.
Arthur Rimbaud’s style has influenced a large number of artists
throughout the times and still continues to do so over a century
after his death. Considered an outcast and rebel by the majority
of his era’s society, his genius being appreciated by only a few
while he lived, Arthur Rimbaud is today acknowledged as a visionary,
one of the first proponents of the free verse style and a predecessor
to the surrealists.
The intensity and the timeless emotional impact of Arthur Rimbaud’s
work make his poetry the perfect song lyrics. A project aiming at
composing songs based on a selection of Rimbaud’s poems was long
predestined to be.
In 1994 Hector Zazou – together with artists such as Bill Laswell,
Dead Can Dance, John Cale, David Sylvian, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tim
Simenon – produced Sahara Blue, an album with twelve songs
based on English translations of Rimbaud poems.
In 2004 an enthused group of professional artists has teamed up
to make a similar and just as ambitious project happen, this time
using German translations of Arthur Rimbaud poems (contributions
to the project in brackets):
– Michael Korotschenko
(Musician/Composer, Vocalist,
– Music Video Producer)
– Martin Diehl
(Musician/Composer, Vocalist)
– Helmut Halfmann
(Musician/Composer, Vocalist)
– Uwe Henke
(Musician/Composer, Vocalist)
– Roland Scheidel
(Musician/Composer, Vocalist)
– Tony Caulfield
(Vocalist, Actor, Music Video Screenwright,
– Voice-Over Talent and Co-Producer)
– Halfmann & Scheidel Publishing (Web Space Provider)
More to come…
